The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once these cells are destroyed, they can no longer store fat nor accumulate it, permanently getting rid of them. Once we have reached your aesthetic goals, no further treatment is expected to be needed.

Before starting treatment, we will examine the area under and around your chin to determine if Kybella is right for you. Then, we will tailor your treatment to the amount of fat under the chin and your aesthetic goals.
Since everyone's chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. We will come up with a treatment plan, dependent upon the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals. Each Kybella treatment is given at least 1 month apart, and usually no more than six treatments will be required.
After treatment, it is likely that you will encounter some swelling, bruising, numbness, or areas of hardness under your chin. Most of the swelling will disappear within two weeks following each treatment.
